Journal 4: Weather

I have been at California for about 1 year. I like to live here to study. It makes me feel comfortable to be here, especially the weather.

The first impression that I have was the weather. I still remember the day that I arrived here. It was so sunny and warm weather. Also, the sunlight was so comfortable. I like the weather in LA. In contrast, the weather in my home town is four direct seasons which is spring, summer, fall, and winter. In spring the weather is warm, but a little bit cool; in summer, it is so hot and dry; in fall, the weather is cool and the leaf all turn yellow; in winter, it is very cold that is very different from LA. I like the weather here, because it is not too hot in summer, not too cold in winter. Also, spring and fall are warm.

All in all, I like living in California, for the weather is good here.

Journal 3: Old Fears

Everyone have their own fear. For me, I am fear of the dark when I was young, but now I am fear of death.

When I was young I am so afraid of dark. I could not turn off the light by myself, so mother always helps me to turn off the light after I have already fallen asleep. I am afraid of night when I was young, because I think monsters will come out at night. It sounds childish, but I think most of children afraid of night when they were young. Recently, I am afraid of death. That not means I am timid or afraid of death. I am just so sad of death. The first reason is come from movies. There are many movies about our future life like robots control the people and many kinds of disasters. Sometimes I think if it is not movie, it is true, what human can do for that. The second reason is recently there are many real disasters around our life. Not only the nature disasters can reduce death, but also the disasters that from human can reduce death. As we see, many people die for the nature disasters like earthquake, tsunami, and forest fires. Sad to say, under the disasters, human are too small and tiny. We just like ants; we can not do anything when disasters come to us.

Death is not afraid for a man, but it is very sad for human.

Journal 2: Your New Year Resolution

When I was young I am so happy that we have new year party, because on this day it is very crowd. Many relatives come together have a big part, and for children we can get money from uncle and anunt because of our traditional customs. But recently, I do not like New year.

First of all, after I come to USA, I feel lonely when it is the traditional holiday. I am very missing my family and friends on those special days. Second, as the times goes so fast, I realize it is very hard to run with time. Third, if it is the New year which means we get older than last year. It is very carzy. Though people say age is just a number, but it is also very scare me.

I hope this year can be my big change that I can apply to the major that I like and have a new life.

Journal 1: Introductions

My name is Leah. I have been in the california for about a year. I am happy to study here and experience the life in California, because I can meet variety kinds of people and customs here. Sometimes I am missing my friends and family, but it is good that I canmeet many new friends here.

Now I want to introuduce one of my friend sherry. She is tall and active girl that I ever met. I am so happy to see him this semester. For we have the similarities. First of all, we come from the same country, and second, both of us want to get master degree here, but different major. And also, we preparing the TOEFL test. Hope we can get a good score and sucessfully apply to the major we want.
